Lawn Maintainance
1.early spring (before 2nd lawn mowing based on the owner; when the 迎春花 winter Jasmine is in bloom based on the Neighbour), apply crabgrass control from Belle Mead Co-op. also may apply broad leave weed control two weeks after the crabgrass application.
2. early summer. Apply grub control, Scott red.
3. summer. apply nitrogen rich fertilizer. 1 cup of ammonia + 1/2 cup of soap+1 gal water. mix. spray it in 20 gal water.
4. early fall. seeding as needed. tree planting.
5. Late fall/early winter. apply urea 46% when the temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or cooler.

Insecticides

Major types of insecticides: Bifenthrin, Carbaryl, Metrifonate or Trichlorfon or Dylox, Nematodes. Nematodes is prferred since it protects environment. Next is Carbaryl since it does not contain Cl. It also kills mosquito, honey bee, and crustacean. Dylox also control caterpillas,mole in addition to white grubs. Applies to non-food area only.

Mosquito Repellent

other mosquito repellent plants include: marigolds, pennyroyal and geraniums. Common herbs such as basil, lavender, pepermint, lemon balm, rosemary, and garlic all can help repel mosquitos. Catnip has been shown to be up to 10 times more effective than deet at keeping mosquitos from biting
Grass/Plant killer
one gallon white vinegar, mix with one cup of salt. Heat a little to dissolve the salt, or just let it sit a while until the salt is melted. Then add 10 drops of dish detergent. Spray it onto any plants what you would like to kill. Not on the plants you would like to keep. sidenote: vinegar concentration is 5%. --Source: Yanruntao blog.
To kill lanternflies:
Equal amounts of Dawn dish soap and water in a spray bottle is also an option to kill both live lanternflies and lanternfly eggs. Clean the dead bugs and eggs after use to avoid mold.
